Orthodontic treatment for children and teenagers

Orthodontic treatment is suitable - and very beneficial - for children and teenagers. In fact, it is recommended that all children are seen by an orthodontist by the age of seven as this allows any potential problems to be identified in advance.

If your child needs orthodontic treatment, it may be possible for this to be provided under the NHS. However, there are certain Government criteria that must be met.

Private orthodontic treatment

If your child doesn’t qualify for orthodontic treatment under the NHS, private treatment is your other option. This has many benefits, such as a greater choice of treatment options and no restrictions on appointment times. There is also no waiting time for private treatment as there is for NHS treatment.

Here at Pure Orthodontics we see many children and private treatment doesn’t have to be expensive. Come in for a free first appointment and you will have a chance to talk your questions over with Dr Monica Reinach, our specialist orthodontist.

Discreet treatment for teenagers

Some teens can feel self-conscious about receiving orthodontic treatment, particularly if they think they’re going to have to wear ‘train tracks’. Developments in orthodontic technology has meant there are more treatment options for teenagers these days, including almost invisible ones such as Invisalign aligners or hidden braces, also known as lingual braces

Pure’s Oral Health Educating programme

We visit local junior schools to help children understand the importance of good oral hygiene at an early age. Here are some pictures of Sengar and Ceri visiting Quilters Junior School in Billericay to present Pure’s Oral Health Educating programme on correct tooth brushing and oral care.

“The pupils loved it and sat there in silent wonder at times. It was real awe and wonder stuff.”

Retainers

Retention is possibly the most important phase of a patient's treatment journey. Once braces have been removed, patients are fitted with either a fixed or removable retainer to keep teeth in position so their new smile remains in place.
