What is orthodontics?

Orthodontic treatment is used to correct irregularities of the teeth or developing jaws and to improve the function and appearance of the mouth and face. At Pure Orthodontics, we describe it as a balance between art and science.

The art of creating a beautiful, natural smile taking into consideration a patient’s face, profile, bone structure and muscular function, is perfectly balanced with the latest scientific technology available.

Through the combination of these two vital aspects, we can transform your smile to boost your confidence and self-esteem resulting in healthy teeth, an efficient bite and a fantastic smile you can be proud of, whatever your age.

What is an orthodontist?

An orthodontist is a trained dentist who has embarked on further postgraduate study in the specialist field of orthodontics. This takes a minimum of two-to-three years of study, and also requires ongoing professional training.

If you have problems with your teeth and jaw, that cause them to be out of alignment, you will need to see an orthodontist to correct these. If you have a cavity or want a regular checkup on the overall health of your teeth, you need to see a dentist. We've outlined some of the other differences between the two dental professions on our page, Orthodontists vs Dentists.
