Clear braces

Would you like, or have you been recommended, orthodontic treatment? Are you tempted but really don't want to walk around with a mouth full of metal? Well, thanks to Pure Orthodontics' clear braces, you won't have to worry. Our team uses a brand of braces called Damon Clear braces, which blend in with the colour of your teeth.

What are clear braces?

Clear braces resemble traditional braces but use high-tech wires and clear, tooth-coloured brackets to give patients a more discreet treatment solution. The key component of the highly efficient orthodontic system is the self-ligating brackets.

How do clear braces work?

The traditional method of orthodontic treatment uses a system of brackets, archwires and elastics. The brackets are bonded to the front surface of your teeth and are connected with thin metal archwires. Elastic bands are then used to apply pressure so the archwire can move your teeth into a straighter position.

Clear braces are what's known as tieless braces. They use self-ligating brackets which means elastic bands, also known as ligatures, aren't required. These brackets can be programmed so the archwire knows how much pressure to apply to the teeth to straighten them. It's a more efficient treatment system and produces a broader, more natural smile.

The tieless clear braces are also resistant to staining and discoloration throughout treatment. Many of our patients say people did not even realise they were wearing braces!

What are the benefits of clear braces?

Clear braces have several advantages over traditional braces:

  • Innovative self-ligating brackets use lighter forces to guide teeth into position. This makes treatment less uncomfortable.
  • The brackets are much smaller than traditional metal braces, reducing the likelihood of irritating your cheeks
  • The brackets blend in with the colour of your teeth to ensure the treatment is as discreet as possible
  • The technology used ensures a more precise result in a shorter length of time than with traditional braces
  • Very few adjustment appointments are needed which means less visits to the orthodontist

Lingual braces

Traditional metal braces, made up of brackets and archwires which are fitted to the front surface of your teeth. Lingual braces consist of small brackets and wires expertly placed to the interior side of your teeth, so no-one knows you are straightening your teeth but you.
